Tom Silva, the well-known contractor from THIS OLD HOUSE®, paid a visit to Sweenor Builders to assist Owner Jeff Sweenor in the making of a curved beam for a 5,800-square-foot coastal home that the firm is building on Ocean Road in Narragansett, RI.

The expert adviser on home improvement, remodeling, upgrades, tools and products visited the project site as well as the firm’s full-service custom millwork shop. “It was a lot of fun to meet Tom,” said Sweenor. “We’ve admired his work for years, and we feel privileged that he took an interest in one of our projects.”

To accommodate the homeowner’s curvilinear porch design, the luxury home requires a structural serpentine beam that will integrate with tongue and groove mahogany ceilings that are planned for the walk-out grade below.
