Jeff Sweenor, President and CEO of Sweenor Builders, Incorporated was honored as Custom Home Builder of the Year Finalist by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) at the International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, NV last week. The annual award celebrates exceptional professionalism, innovation and creativity in crafting unique-one-of-a-kind custom homes, and distinguishes Jeff’s leadership at work, in the community, and in the home building industry at the national, state, and local level.
Sweenor Builders was also recognized during IBS program ceremonies, capturing a Gold Award when NAHB named best-in-class projects at the 2018 Best in American Living™ Awards (BALA) for the firm’s work on the This Old House® 2018 Idea House in Narragansett, RI.
“It is both humbling and inspiring to be recognized on a national level for our work and contributions to the custom home building industry, ” Sweenor says. “These awards epitomize the highest levels of quality and customer service in our country and are truly the product of team effort. I share it with our extraordinary staff, family of clients, and design and industry partners.”
Sweenor is excited about the leadership role that he’s been able to fill in the broader building community, serving as an advocate for the trade and an ambassador of the industry through his work with This Old House. Notably, this is the second year in a row that his company’s project work with This Old House caught the eye of the NAHB selection panel. A collaboration of multiple project stakeholders, including This Old House, Union Studio Architecture & Community Design, Landscape Creations of Rhode Island, and Sweenor’s Interior designer Kristen Martone, the 2018 Idea House earned a Gold BALA award for single-family custom homes of its size. According to one of the judges, the Idea House earned the praise of the NAHB selection panel because, “This home, simply put, has the right proportions,” and “The detailing is great.”
“This Old House has given us a way to celebrate everything that I love about our profession,” Jeff notes. “Not a team to sit on our laurels, we look forward to building on the exposure we’ve gained with other best-in-class craftsman and industry professionals to help us raise the bar in serving the needs of our clients and community. We are sensitive to combining best building practices, energy efficiency, and attracting the top talent needed to design and build for the future.”
