MIKE HURD
Mike Hurd brings 25 years’ experience to his role as Site Superintendent, where he manages field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, construction activities, and materials to ensure that our high-quality standards are met, and projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Mr. Hurd’s experience in the field runs the gamut. He selected his high school with carpentry in mind, attending CharioTech to pursue a curriculum certified by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). After school, he started in the industry as a roofer before he was recruited by another carpentry firm. Just prior to joining Sweenor Builders, Mike spent more than 15 years building on charming Fisher’s Island.
Our team and our clients appreciate the vast range of carpentry skills that Mike brings to the table, communication chief among them. Mr. Hurd is an expert at representing each client’s vision, asking questions, and providing feedback to ensure clarity. He is even known for developing mock-ups to help illustrate complex construction techniques and concepts.
Outside the office, Mike has an impressive range of interests that keep him going. You might find him working with friends on a race car that is raced at local tracks throughout the summer, pottery making for the Fantastic Umbrella Factory in Charlestown, or connecting to his love of naval history by photographing the nearest old schooner or tall ship that he can find.
