College Hill, Providence

This nationally registered historic home was built in 1867 in Providence, RI.  Over the years, it had undergone several renovations so that the luster of the original interiors had been covered up or completely removed.  Leaving the home’s period-correct exterior intact, we oversaw structural and interior renovations to enable a re-imagination of living spaces by our project partners at Digs Design Company. Work began with the removal of structural walls to open the floorplan, and the raising of a sunken living room to level it to adjacent spaces.  A coffered ceiling was built around new structural beams, carefully matching to doors and windows, and discretely hiding a plenum chamber above for modern HVAC and mechanicals.  Today, a range highly crafted, seductively designed spaces bring new life to the historic home.
